Mission and Vision

The Center for Procedural Skills and Simulation (CPSS) exists to improve patient safety and the care they receive by transforming how health professionals learn, practice, and perform.  W provide immersive, evidence-based simulation education, procedural skills training, interprofessional team development, and research opportunities that prepare learners and clinicians to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care.

To set the standard for simulation-based education and innovation by creating an integrated, system-wide simulation program that advances patient safety, strengthens clinical teams, supports discovery, and prepares the next generation of health professionals across Iowa and beyond.

Learning Objectives

We take pride in educating learners in our state-of-the-art simulation center, providing training and education for real-life scenarios in a safe, professional environment. CPSS works to repurpose unused supplies and equipment found in areas within our hospitals and clinics, cutting down on waste and providing accurate hands-on practice away from patient-care areas. We aim to build upon foundational skills of interpreting, analyzing, problem-solving and performing to ensure a fulfilling health care experience for our entire Iowa community.
